Where I started

LaToya and I began coaching sessions together in August 2021.

I had just returned from maternity leave & felt that working with a coach would be a great way to focus on my goals and hone my leadership skills.

The journey

The topics we discuss and how we approach them are mutually agreed which gives me a high level of ownership of my coaching sessions.

In terms of style, LaToya is open, curious & perspective as a coach. LaToya brings a series of tools & coaching approaches across the sessions which means that no two sessions are the same – some weeks we discussed a singular aspect of understanding my values & motivations as a leader and the next week we had practical sessions mutually agreeing how I could approach trying certain leadership styles.

In addition to this LaToya brings her own significant leadership experience to the discussion when needed to help frame options or areas of exploration for you. But more importantly, she is warm, fun & truly cares that you feel motivated and empowered after her sessions which means I always leave her feeling energised & excited for the next.

Where I am now

One action that came out of an early session was for me to apply for a Trustee position. We agreed on the size and charitable area to give focus to my search. The time commitment required was also discussed and made clear to ensure this potential new role was one I could sustain at this time. As with all other agreed actions, LaToya kept me accountable with regular follow ups.

I applied and was successfully appointed as a Trustee to a charity that means a lot to me. This is not only personally fulfilling but this role is a direct action identified in our sessions linked to my long terms.
